Mirror, mirror on a wall. Is this the most extravagant X6?
The BMW X6 has been a controversial car from the beginning. Its unusual exterior combines the SUV-like body with the coupe-like roofline. BMW has been widely considered to be the father of the coupe/SUV trend, which is now spreading like a virus throughout the automotive industry. The oddity is here to stay, and tuners are already open to the idea to modify these vehicles.
Several aftermarket specials have teamed up to make the second-generation X6 more attractive, but not necessarily in a positive way. The torquetastic M50d was the first to be covered by the tuners. They then applied a vinyl wrap to the entire body, which is described as “black chrome”, with some black accents on certain panels.
Mirrored chrome vinyl makes the BMW X6 standout even more than usual. The massive 22-inch wheels play the exact same role. The coupe-ified SUV is a unique design, thanks to wider wheel arches and suspension lower springs that bring the SAV closer on the road.
PP-Performance worked with the six-cylinder tri-turbodiesel 3.0-liter engine. The 740 Newton-meters (546 pound feet) of torque were not enough. The engine has been upgraded to produce an impressive 845 Nm (623lb-ft) and increased horsepower from 376 hp (280kW) to 437hp (326kW).
Although performance numbers haven’t been released, it’s easy for us to believe it will take less than the 5.2 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in the regular model. The top speed is not known, but the diesel monster leaves the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina with an electronic limiter that will kick in at 155 MPH (250 Kph).
These aftermarket parts and accessories will cost you approximately EUR19,000, on top of the EUR94,000.00 BMW pays in Germany to purchase the X6 M50d.
