Mercedes-Benz is currently developing the next-generation C63 AMG. The performance C family will switch to a hybrid 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The C63 was powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which was mated with a seven-speed manual gearbox. Here’s something for those who still miss the golden age of the German V8.

A new video from AutoTopNL shows us the Autobahn, where the team behind YouTube’s channel is pushing a Mercedes C63AMG AMG of the W204 generation. This is the wagon body style which makes it more appealing to the motor1.com crew. It’s close to the perfect vehicle, thanks to its excellent V8 soundtrack and quick gearbox responses.

The C63 can reach speeds of 124 mph (200 km/h), as you’d expect. This video shows a C63 reaching speeds of around 160 mph (256 km/h). It’s funny that the C63 is able to reach the maximum speed but another vehicle is in front, possibly a Mercedes wagon. The C63 is never able to surpass the car in front.

The C63 is not the most powerful factory C Class. It has 451 horsepower (336 Kilowatts) but 443 pound-feet (603 Newton-meters). The new C63 is expected to produce 600 horsepower (447 kW) . This should make it much more efficient. You shouldn’t expect the same engine and exhaust sound.

Michael Schumacher was a long-time owner of a C63 W204. When he joined the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula 1 Team, he used a Black C63 wagon. After driving the Merc for many months, he sold it at Bonhams for EUR27,600, or $29,140 at current exchange rates.
