Mercedes-AMG C63 Lineup Gets New Grille and More Gears For New YorkWhile the model has a new digital cockpit and revised drive programmes, horsepower is unchanged.

New York City is the ideal location for MercedesBenz to showcase the updated C63 family. This includes the coupe, sedan and cabriolet models. After testing the pre-production models for some time, we can see that the visual changes are subtle but noticeable. The most notable change is the Panamericana grille, which has become the standard for AMG vehicles. The 2019 C63 gets a slightly reworked front fascia. Remodeled twin tailpipes in the rear feature high-gloss chrome and an updated rear diffuser.

The new 9-speed, wet-clutch manual gearbox replaces the 7-speed unit from the previous model. Engine output is not new. The engine output of the Biturbo-4.0-liter V8 is steady at 469 horsepower (350kilowatts in the C63) and 503 HP (375 kW in the C63 S). However, Mercedes claims that the 0-60 acceleration time is unchanged. The new car has a more refined drive program which improves handling.

The AMG Dynamic attribute allows you to adjust the six programs available – Slippery and Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race – to suit different conditions and drivers’ needs. You can also adjust the C63’s agility to suit your needs by selecting from Basic, Advanced or Pro agility functions.

The updated C63 comes with the option of the digital cockpit. Standard-issue is the AMG-specific steering column. It has touch control buttons that can be used to manage various vehicle systems. Optional AMG Drive Units are also available. This adds a round controller, an integral display under right side wheel spokes, and a pair color display buttons underneath the left wheel spoke. Front seat passengers also get temperature controls for their climatized buckets. Two new interior wood grain trim options, in grey oak and walnut, complete the range.
