Acura NSX Roadster Set To Make Its Debut This Year

Rumours suggest Acura may launch a topless NSX within a few months. However, we aren’t holding our breath.

We can only imagine what would be more than driving down the open roads in a 573-horsepower (427 kilowatts) Acura NX. That would be doing it with the top down. Although the company has not confirmed the convertible version of the highly acclaimed NSX sports car, recent reports have shed light on the possibility.

The German publication Autobild suggests that the Acura NSX roadster could launch as soon as this year. According to this site, it will be among a few sporty, open-top cars that we will see later in 2018. It will have nearly the same design cues and features as the coupe. We will take these reports with a grain, but there are some supporting evidence.

Acura was caught testing a mystery version of the NSX at the Nurburgring. Some believe it to be a stronger Type R model. The company could be launching a whole range of NSX products within the next few years. This includes a convertible model, as has been rumored ever since the first concept was shown in The Avengers movie.

Acura may decide to make a topless NSX. However, you shouldn’t expect much in the way of performance. It is likely that the same 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid engine will continue to produce 573 horsepower and 476 pound-feet torque. All that power allows the coupe to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.0 seconds. We will keep an eye on Acura’s plans for a convertible NSX over the next few months.
