Let’s all hope that Mercedes will replace the Project One in 2025 if it does.
The prototype Mercedes AMG Project One has been unveiled last year. It will be on the road in 2019 It will be able to run at a staggering 1,000 horsepower+ (745kilowatts) thanks to its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine V6 and four electric motors. It will soon be replaced.
Dieter Zetsche (Mercedes CEO, Chairman of Daimler), has already confirmed the Project One will get a successor. The bad news is that it won’t go on sale until at least 2025. As we wait anxiously for the electrifying new hypercar, one design studio is hard at work designing it.
The successor to the AMG Project One has been created by Invisive. It looks just as stunning as the hypercar. Although it shares many cues with current vehicle, such as the long, low-slung frame and sleek fascia, it is more futuristic than Project One.
The vehicle, called the C01 Vision is an “electric supercar concept” that can be used on the track or on the tarmac. The Formula One-inspired technology used in the concept includes a lightweight bodyshell that is mounted on top of a similarly lightweight subframe. This allows for maximum downforce and airflow while still maintaining a very attractive design.
The stunning side profile looks amazing with the mid-mounted motor and forward-cab styling. At least, the front fascia shares many cues with the current car. We especially like the round nose and slim LED headlights. The car is stunningly designed. Let’s hope Mercedes designers learn from this example when they create their own electric supercar.
