The Current Jeep Grand Cherokee Will Be Departing In 2021 with the Anniversary Edition

Minor updates will be made to the Grand Cherokee lineup.

As the automaker prepares a pair of new successors, the current-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will be in operation for another year. The news is from MoparInsiders. It reports that the automaker will offer the SUV with a special 80th anniversary edition model. According to the source of the publication, Jeep is planning to build the limited edition anniversary model. The details of the package are not known. The 75th Anniversary Edition model came with upgrades such as a unique grille and front fascia, low gloss bronze accents and exclusive seats. Badging and other upgrades were also included. Jeep could do something similar with the 80th Anniversary Edition model but don’t expect any performance improvements.

The Grand Cherokee’s new anniversary edition model will be joined by the other core trims, including the Trailhawk, Overland and Summit, as well as the rest of its lineup. The SUV will see minor changes in the next model year. For example, the entry-level Laredo trim will get new 18-inch wheels. Limited and Limited X models will get a new Sun & Sound package, which includes a dual-pane panoramic roof and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system.

The next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will ride on the same architecture as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Giulia. The model will also have a two- and three row interior layout, which allows it to compete with the Ford Explorer and other large SUVs. Although details about the powertrain are still unknown, customers can expect hybridization. Although we expected to see the new Grand Cherokee in the 2021 model year, Jeep cancelled the Detroit Auto Show unveil and has not yet announced the reschedule date.
