This creation is absurd to even begin to describe.
Growing up, I was a sucker for the Power Wheels electric ride-on toys. One Christmas, I begged for one. But, I never got one. However, I did buy one for my daughter, a purple Mustang. The radio is non-functional and it has two speeds. This is a marked departure from GrindHar Plumbing Co’s original creation. The crew decided that a 12-volt battery wasn’t sufficient power to satisfy some and so they took a Honda CRF230 dirt bike engine to put on the Power Wheels.
This creation is much more than a engine in a toy. It took only four days to complete the build. They first found a used gokart chassis on Craigslist that they cut to fit the Pink Mustang. To improve weight distribution, they welded engine mounts to the front of their kart before installing the Honda engine with 240 cubic centimeters. This engine also included a performance cam as well as a big-bore kit.
This video shows how insane Grind Hard Plumbing Co has created. It’s fast and almost uncontrollable. It has a 36-inch wheelbase, which is awkward, and brakes that lock up. The pedals stick. This dangerous combination can be seen in the video. The driver attempts to steer the kart in one direction, but instead whips it in another direction. This nearly sends the driver and kart over the edge of the cliff. They pack up their karts and drive home after the near miss.
It looks bizarre with the engine sticking out from the plastic hood and the lack of a floor. It looks great and is a joy to drive. Although it can be dangerous in certain situations, an open parking lot might be the best place. When will spec racing become a reality? I would definitely watch.
