However, the company has not yet confirmed that production of the high-performance electric SUV will be possible.

Since the debut of the electric SUV, rumors about a high-performance IPace have been circulating on the internet. Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), has already expressed interest in building an I-Pace SVR. However, a new interview gives further credence to the possibility that a production version will be made in the near future.

Hanno Kirner (product planning boss) suggested that the I-Pace SVR might make sense in the lineup in an interview with Autocar. The company is concerned that if it is produced, it might be more powerful than the average consumer. Kirner claims it could travel 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) in under two seconds.

Kirner stated, “Yes, it can do 0-60 miles an hour in 1.8 seconds.” It’s a great headline but after you’ve tried it once or twice and have lost your sight in the back of your sockets, it’s not something you want to repeat.

He said, “I do worry about the instant torque and performance being too much for untrained motorists.” It may be necessary to restrict performance until the driver has completed a driving course.

The I-Pace is faster than a Tesla Model X 75D. It’s powered by a 90-kilowatt-hour Lithium-ion battery that produces 394 horsepower (293 kilowatts), and 512 pound-feet (694 Newton-meters), of torque. It can sprint up to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. This makes it nearly as fast as the FACE SVR.

Jaguar might be concerned about its power output but that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t open to the idea. Kirner stated that there are “probably more than one route” but that there is certainly room for an electric performance car. We are hopeful that we will soon see an I-Pace SV.
