In the coming weeks, the diesels will also be available for other Dacia models.
We’re sorry to inform you that you missed the opportunity to get the new Blue dCi powertrains if you were one of the first adopters to buy a second-generation duster with a Diesel engine. The Dacia budget-friendly SUV is getting a major update under the hood. The familiar four-cylinder 1.5-liter turbodiesel motor has been tweaked to give it more power.
This is the case for both diesel engines. The dCi 90 will now be called the dCi 95, while the stronger dCi 110 will be called the dCi 115. Both versions will add the “Blue” affix. The lesser diesel engine offers 30 more Newton-meters (22 pounds-feet) and 240 Nm (177lb-ft), respectively, at 1,750 rpm. The stronger diesel will continue to offer 260 Nm (192 Lb-ft) of torque at 1,750 rpm.
The Duster powered by a diesel engine with one of the Blue dCi units can now sprint at 62 mph (100 km/h) faster than the other. The slower of the two diesels will take 12.6 seconds to finish the task, down from 13.8s. While the faster one will complete the task in 10.5 seconds (down slightly from 11.8s). The top speed has increased slightly, from 158 kph to 167 km/h (98-104 mph in the case the former) and from 171 kph to 179 km/h (106-111 mph for the latter).
The 1.5-liter diesel engines gain muscle. However, they also have the most recent technologies to reduce polluting emissions. The Selective Catalytic Reduction technology, (SCR) is now included in the oxidation converter located in the exhaust. It works in conjunction with AdBlue to reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions (NOx), while increasing performance and efficiency of your engine.
The fuel consumption of the new-gen diesel engines has not changed. Both need 4.4 liters/100 km. This is CO 2 emissions at 115 g/km according to NEDC.
Dacia claims it will soon introduce the Blue dCi engine to its entire lineup.
