An appearance is planned for later in the year.
The next-generation Suzuki Jimny remains one of the most secretive in today’s automotive industry. We have seen a lot of spy photos with prototypes and some leaked images . Also, we have a few plausible virtual drawings so we know what it will look like. We present today a detailed rendering of the final production version. This is based on all information available.
To be fair, you don’t need to be a car expert to predict the design of the new Jimny. Although the vehicle’s dimensions will change, its boxy shape will not be lost. The basic design of the front end will remain the same, with circular headlights and an angled grille. However, they will be more prominent than ever before.
Based on preliminary information, it would be possible to paint the roof, hood and A-pillars in two-tones. Our rendering shows such an example, with a red main color and contrast black details. The wheel arches, in addition to the roof and hood, are also black.
The interior of the new model will be significantly different in design and quality, according to leaked dealer presentations (below). A touchscreen will be added to the infotainment system, and large buttons will be provided for the climate control system. Although an automatic gearbox has not been confirmed, it is possible.
Purists will be pleased to know that the new Jimny will still ride on a body-on-frame chassis. It will also feature a permanent all-wheel drive system with a low range transfer case. The traditional off-road layout will be combined alongside modern electronic safety and assistance systems and an unknown internal combustion engine.
The outgoing Jimny production has been ended, and the Japanese company is currently retooling their assembly lines to make way for the new model. The debut of the new model is expected in the first quarter of 2019, so expect a market launch before the end.
