Volkswagen is preparing a huge recall of approximately 700,000 Tiguan or Touran cars worldwide. This information was provided by Reuters and revealed by Kfz – German Trade Magazine.

According to the publication humidity can cause short circuits at the panoramic roof’s ambient led strip. The heat generated could damage the roof liner. This could cause the vehicle to catch fire in extreme cases. Although the information has not been confirmed by the automaker, Kfz–Betrieb quoted a Volkswagen spokesperson.

A total of 700,000.00 examples of the two models combined are affected, with approximately 52,500 sold in Germany. The majority of remaining vehicles are found in Europe, although there are some in other parts of the globe. The recall will impact the current generation of MPV and SUV models manufactured before July 5.

According to the spokesman, the solution is still not available. However, owners of affected cars should continue to use them. If they see signs of a short circuit or ambient lighting not working, they should immediately stop the vehicle and disconnect the battery.

Due to issues with the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags, the current Tiguan was recall in the United States. The majority of 2017 model year vehicles were serviced along with 5,901 other 2017 Audi A4, A6, A7 and A7 models.

It was reported that Volkswagen could have to recall up to 124,000 hybrid and electric vehicles due to the presence of carcinogenic metals in their charging systems.
