Honda may have tried to mislead people about the next-generation CivicType R. There have been many rumors about the next-generation Honda Civic Type R over the past year. BestCarWeb.jp reports that the next-gen Type R will boast nearly 400 horsepower (298kilowatts) and all-wheel-drive. According to the publication Honda will pair Type R’s turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, with two electric motors. Similar to the NSX’s powertrain configuration, it will be reversed in Civic. The gas engine will power front wheels, while the two electric motors the rear.
This latest speculation is contrary to rumors that were circulated last month that indicated that the Japanese automaker would keep its next-generation Type R solely gas-powered. It’s not easy to pinpoint Honda’s plans for its hot hatch.
