A recent report claims that the 2015 Toyota Prius will have an e-4WD system, which includes an electric motor to power the rear wheels.
An Auto Express source says that the engine’s 1.8-liter capacity will be modified. The inverter and electric motors will be reduced, but the engine will still produce more power. This will allow the model to deliver better performance and fuel economy. The car is expected to return more than 90 mpg UK (71 mpg US; 3.1 L/100km) as well as emit less than 70g/km CO2.
The Prius may also have an e-4WD system, which uses an electric motor to power the rear wheels. The system is said to be designed to make the Prius more appealing in snowy conditions. It can travel at speeds of up to 37 mph (59 km/h).
Engineers believe that Prius could keep its nickel-metal-hydride battery, as they provide better power delivery than new lithium-ion ones.
