Without traction, power is not possible.

How many Corvette Drag Racing videos did we see since the C8 Vette’s debut in 2019. We don’t know the answer to that question, other than to say . We’ve seen too many matchups to count, from Corvette-versus-Supra to Corvette-versus-GT500 and even crazy races like Corvette-versus-Rolls Royce. We’ve seen older Corvettes occasionally, but this is our first ever C8 race.

The Wheels YouTube channel brings you the action. It features several quarter-mile passes featuring multiple C8 Corvettes at Canada’s Mission Raceway Park near Vancouver. Drag racing geeks will be happy to know that the track’s elevation is only 25 feet above sea level. This means that the naturally aspirated C8 with its V8 engine of 6.2-liters is able to receive the highest amount of atmospheric oxygen. It needs every drop because the first race pits a C8 against an overcharged C7 Corvette Z06.

The previous-generation Z06 has a 6.2-liter V8. However, it’s been boosted to produce 650 horsepower (485kilowatts) as opposed to 495hp (369kW) in its C8 counterpart. We’ll assume that both cars have street tires and run stock quarter-miles. Trap speeds are also the same. And, folks, this race is an excellent introduction to holeshot. The C8 has a traction advantage and the Z06 is beaten at the start by the C8 driver, who has a quicker reaction time. It’s enough for the C8 driver to win, despite the slower time.

This is not the reason you clicked on this article. You want to see a Corvette race like no other. We see the same red ‘Vette against the black C8 after a second look at the C7/C8 race. We assume that both cars are stock and again we see a classic example of nailing a holeshot. Unfortunately, the Corvette leading the charge lets go of the gas to allow the rival to catch up. But it’s still side-by-side C8 action. There’s more.

Although the next race will be a solo, we also see a thirdC8 lineup at tree. It’s possible that it was a Corvette night at the track. However, it’s nice seeing these cars get a good workout instead of cruising around town, or worse, sitting in a garage. A fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro will be the final race. It also appears stock, giving C8 a real challenge. It’s a great way to spend an evening with car enthusiasts.
