This rugged crossover will only be available in India.
As if one crossover was not enough, Nissan Qashqai Skoda released a few sketches for its forthcoming Kushaq. The little, high-riding vehicle will debut in one month. It is essentially a production version Vision IN concept which was introduced around a year ago.
The Kushaq went through all the changes you would expect from concept to production – larger headlights and mirrors as well as regular door handles and minor modifications to the bodywork. It has (thankfully) The illuminated grille has been removed and the wheel size likely decreased from the 19-inch set. This was to better handle India’s often rough roads.
The Skoda Kushaq was designed in India and will be manufactured for the Indian market using 95 percent of its components. It will be riding on an India-specific MQB A0 platform, which was used in Europe for Skoda Kamiq. This variant shares many design cues with the Kamiq Scoutline.
The new Indian crossover will only be available with front-wheel drive, just like the Kamiq on the Old Continent. It will come with 1.0- or 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine options. Skoda offers a variety of transmissions depending on the type of engine, including a manual, automatic or seven-speed DSG.
Although the length of the vehicle in production has not been revealed, we know that the Vision IN measured 4,256mm (167.6inches) in length. Kushaq, a road-going crossover, will have a wheelbase of 2,651mm (104.3 inches), making it one of the largest in its class. Skoda has not yet viewed the interior. However, last year’s concept should give a good idea of what the interior will look like, although it uses more traditional controls than the Vision IN’s minimalist cabin.
After the Kamiq GT, and Kodiaq GT in China, the Kushaq will become Skoda’s fourth regional model. The standard Kamiq in Europe is different from the one in China. Skoda, Volkswagen and others are developing three more models for India. They will be available at a later time.
