The 508 SW all-roader version features Peugeot’s all wheel drive HYbrid4 technology, a diesel-electric hybrid setup.
Peugeot’s new 508 RXH hybrid all-wheel drive model features the automaker’s HYbrid4 drive technology.
Conceptually, the Audi A4 Allroad Qattro is the 508 RXH. It’s an off-road version of the 508 Sw wagon. It has been raised and widened to suit its dirt-track duties. The RXH is distinguished by the three vertical LED strips that run along the grill, which refer to a “lion’s claws”.
The all-wheel-drive unit has a 2.0 liter HDi diesel motor and an electric motor mounted on its rear axle. This gives it a total output power of 200 PS (147kW) and torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). This technology was introduced in the 3008 Hybrid4, but will continue to be used in future models of the Peugeot range.
This hybrid technology is first offered by the automaker, who likes to present its cars as stylish, efficient, and cheaper than brands like VW.
The 508 RXH has a fuel economy rating of 4.2 L/100 km (70.6 MPG) and a CO2 quotient (109 g/km). You can also drive the car in electric mode with zero emissions for a short distance.
The car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motorshow in September, and then goes on sale next spring (2012).
