Track-ready 400-horsepower Volkswagen Amarok V6 Truck

It is super heavy, but it’s surprisingly light.

The Volkswagen Amarok has undoubtedly been the most versatile vehicle in the German automaker’s lineup. Although it can tow heavy items and is capable of going on-road or off-road with a large truck bed, we would wager that engineers never expected anyone to use it on the track. Darkside Developments has decided to change this in a recent video, where they take a customer’s Amarok on a track day at Donnington Park.

We must mention, before we begin, that the owner of this vehicle granted permission for the guys to race his car on the track. Although it was quite shocking to hear, it was refreshing to see such trust in those who work on his truck.

This is not your average Amarok. This video shows an example of a modified Amarok. It now has around 400 horsepower (298.2 megawatts).

The truck also has a brake and lowering kit, which are very important for track use. Although it isn’t a NASCAR race car, the modified VW can still boogie around on the track. The video shows it passing a BMW M50d at one point.

This truck is quite fast for a truck that weighs in at just over 4,500 lbs (2,041.1 kgs). What would you do if a Volkswagen Amarok passed you on your next track day, however? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section.
