In 2022, the duo will be relaunched.
It is likely that the Ford Escape/ Kuga did not have the smoothest launch, particularly when it came to the plug-in hybrid model. Due to quality problems, the automaker had to delay production of the PHEV. The Kuga was a plug-in hybrid that became one of Europe’s most popular. The demand will increase with a refresh of the model and the duo’s facelift is imminent.
The prototypes of the new Escape / Kuga are currently being tested on public roads using camouflaged bodies. However, our friends at motor.es have seen the changes in the design and provided an early preview. The unofficial rendering shows the facelifted crossover duo, complete with a new front fascia, cool visual upgrades, and no disguise. It’s easy to see what the new Escape / Kuga will look with the Fiesta and Focus facelifts now available in Europe (see related links below). These hatchbacks received new headlights as well as wider radiator grilles. The same changes can be seen on Kuga’s facelifted version. The cabin is not much to talk about, but we expect the new crossover to get the 12.3-inch screen for its infotainment system. This screen was first featured on the Focus. Ford’s SYNC4 software, which is also available in the updated Focus, will likely be the standard for that display. It will also include a new cluster of instruments and enhanced safety and assist systems. We doubt that the Kuga, one of Ford’s most electrified vehicles on the European market, will be affected by the facelift.
We expect the Escape to become a more prominent member of the range with the PHEV model. The facelifted model will arrive in the second quarter next year. Sales are likely to start before the end 2023 as a 2023 model.
