Are we ready for the Tesla panel van yet?
The Tesla Cybertruck can do a lot for a lot different people. The future is Tesla’s electrified pickup. It’s a sci-fi-inspired vision for tomorrow’s truck. Others see it as a joke, a false start. Tesla is a master at making headlines and the Cybertruck unveiling last week proved that. The truck’s design was unconventional by Tesla’s designers, which has led to many different versions. KDC Garage applied the Cybertruck’s sharp-edged design on other body styles. KDC’s stylistic exploration led to five new Tesla Cybertruck renderings: an extended-cab pickup truck, a coupe with a flat roof, one with a panel van and one with a wagon. The pickup is the only traditional rendering, but even that’s a stretch. The bed covers the truck’s rear triangular greenhouse. It’s been replaced with a traditional-style truckbed with low sides. This would allow anyone to access the bottom of the truck bed from the ground without climbing into it.
The Cybertruck’s best design feature is the sharp-edged greenhouse. The sharp-edged greenhouse gives the truck a distinctive profile that is easy to recognize. It’s also easy to confuse with other trucks on sale. Two renderings by KDC give Cybertruck a traditional flat roof. The flat roof renderings of the Cybertruck can’t be compared to Tesla’s sharp styling, even with the flat roof.
These renderings give Tesla Cyber truck a longer roof, a larger greenhouse and more seats. The panel van is covered in stainless steel, except for the windows. The “wagon”, which takes the van’s design but adds windows, gives the vehicle an immense interior. The Tesla Cybertruck will not be in production before the end of 2021. This gives Tesla plenty of time to make changes, which may happen. Before the truck can be sold, it will have to meet crash and pedestrian safety standards. A wagon may be possible if the truck’s angular design is kept and its stainless-steel exterior. Maybe. Let Tesla get the Cybertruck out on the road before making demands for new body designs.
