2019 Porsche Cayenne: Check Out The Side-By-Side Changes

Porsche’s Cayenne remains the foundation of its bottom line.

There are many ways to get a cat to eat, but there is only one way to make an SUV. It’s not true. It’s not a saying, but I made it up. An SUV can only be made with four doors, raised suspension and cargo space behind each row. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne still looks like the Cayenne Porsche purists hate. Are you able to spot the changes?

Front

Although the front is the same as the previous model, closer inspection will reveal all the small details Porsche has added to make the 2019 Cayenne more striking and sleeker. The front grille design is now more coherent with the larger intakes. It blends the three elements horizontally. Porsche also updated the lower fascia design. Although the headlights are still swept backward, they now have new lighting elements. Porsche claims that LEDs are standard on all models, but customers have the option to upgrade to the Porsche Dynamic Light System or LED Matrix Beam. The hood is also important. The strakes now start just above the grille. This gives the front end a stronger appearance.

Rear

The old, bulbous rear taillights have been replaced by a full-width light element. This brings the rear-end design closer to the Panamera and 911. The bumper design has been reworked and the rear marker lights are now lower than the tailpipes. This gives the rear end a cleaner look. The small rear wing still extends from roof to hatch window. It has been slightly modified for 2019.

Inside

Porsche redesigned the vents and changed the dash design to make it look like the Panamera’s interior. The cascade of buttons has been removed from the centre console. The grab handles have been replaced by touch-capacitive controls. Because all infotainment controls must be IMAX-quality, the 12.3-inch touchscreen screen unit is now larger. Two seven-inch color displays flank the analog tachometer. These updates give the Cayenne the modern interior that it requires to compete.
