Ford-F100-Inspired Trophy Truck Shows Its Brawn in The Desert

This truck is very similar to a 1969 Ford pickup.

The coolest thing about trophy trucks is their wild suspensions that soak up bumps and allow drivers to travel at high speeds through the desert. Chris Isenhouer’s Off-road rig uses an old-school Ford F-100 pickup to start.

These race-prepared trucks get more off-road action.

This machine has very few Ford parts. This is a 1969 Ford F-100 according to an specification online. However, only the form of the doors and A-pillars seem to be from the original truck. General Motors now owns the engine, a 6.7-liter stroked LS powered powerplant. The suspension was redesigned with 24 inches (60.96 cm) of travel front and 29 inches back. Mounted onto 17-inch beadlock tires, BF Goodrich tires measure 39 inches. The body is an improved version of the original design and includes massive fenders that cover larger wheels. It’s also gone because it doesn’t have any racing purpose.

Chris Isenhouer, the driver, puts the Ford through its paces in desert conditions. The Ford is able to make some jumps despite the flat surface on the dirt road. The pickup rises high into the sky as the sun sets to showcase its incredible suspension travel.

The only downside to this video is the 1:50 running time. The video has only about a minute and a quarter of an hour of action, if you include the ending and the opening. Although the cinematography is amazing, we’d love to see more.
