GM Performance Parts’ new E-ROD concept is based upon a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe.

The E-Rod is designed to meet the emission standards of the California Air Resources Board (CARB). It features a special 430 hp (321 kW / 336 PS) LS3 V8 crate motor that has modified exhaust manifolds, an engine control module, and a variety eco-minded sensors. The concept can average 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km) and produces emissions comparable to a Chevrolet Camaro SS.

Dr. Jamie Meyer is the product integration manager at GM Performance Parts. “The world of hot rodding has changed and GMPP is leading with engine systems and supporting parts that allow enthusiasts to build a car that complies to the law, satisfies the desire for a cleaner hotrod, and doesn’t compromise the performance they want,” Meyer said.
