Interior enhancements are available for both models, with the new model year including an updated Display audio system, which now includes physical buttons and volume knobs. This allows for intuitive control and better Bluetooth connectivity. The steering wheel buttons have been redesigned for easier operation. An electric parking brake now has a light indicator to indicate when it is engaged. Additional upgrades include bigger cupholders, and buttons to control fan speed for cars with dual-zone automatic climate controls.
The Civic Type R continues with its 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that produces the same 306 horsepower (228kilowatts), and 295 poundfeet (405 Newton-meters). The engine is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox that has automatic rev matching. The standard features include an adjustable suspension with three modes and the new Sonic Gray Pearl exterior color. The EPA fuel consumption numbers remain unchanged at 22/28/25 for city/highway/combined.
The Civic Hatchback will be offered in five trims for 2019, including LX, Sport and EX. EX-L with navigation is also available. Sport Touring starts at $28,750. All models are equipped with the Honda Sensing suite, which includes lane keeping assistance, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 174 horsepower (130 kW), EX, EX-L Navi and Sport models, respectively. Sport and Sport Touring models produce 180 horsepower (134 kW).
