These styling tweaks are a nod towards the Mazda R360 Coupe of 1960, Mazda’s first real car.
Mazda was founded in 1920 by Hiroshima’s Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd., but the name “Cork” was dropped seven years later. The Zoom-Zoom company created a prototype of a 250cc two-stroke engine in 1929 and began production of Toyo machine tool. Six prototype motorcycles were built in 1930 by Zoom-Zoom. Mazda later produced 30 more. A new factory was also built in the same year on an old salt farm, where the company established its headquarters. In 1931, three-wheel truck production began. Four years later, the company started making gauge blocks and rock drills. There are many three-wheel trucks. Trucks
The decade was followed by a sidecar motorcycle and a sidecar motorcycle that were launched in 1939. One year later, Mazda produced a prototype of a small passenger car. In 1950, a six-seater three-wheeler called Tye-PB was launched with a 701cc motor. In 1950, the Type-CA four-wheel truck had a one-ton capacity and was introduced to the market. The company also redesigned its three-wheel trucks in 1954. A cute K360 small three-wheel pickup truck with a 356cc engine was introduced in 1959. It had a load weight of 300 kg (661 pounds).
Mazda’s first passenger car, R360 Coupe, was introduced in 1960. This four-seater, two door model was equipped with a powerful 356cc air-cooled, 16-horsepower motor. It was available with an automatic transmission. The car was a huge success due to its low price of 300,000. Yen and great fuel economy. Mazda has used this cute car as an inspiration for many anniversary editions of its current models to mark the centenary.
Mazda has begun taking orders in Japan for the Centenary model and will begin selling them in Europe this fall. The U.S. division of Mazda doesn’t know which car it will sell locally because we are “in midst of the global crises” caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
There were rumors from 2014 that a new rotary sportscar would be coming to celebrate the brand’s centenary. But it seems unlikely. Although the rotary engine will be back, it will only serve as an extension of the range for an electric vehicle. Mazda claims it is in a race against the clock to build a new RX. However, it doesn’t seem to have abandoned the idea. Rumours circulating suggest that a next-generation RX has been planned. However, it will be powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine. It would probably be called something else, since RX wouldn’t make sense.
