An armored-up Everest can be purchased at your local dealer.
Many companies around the globe can transform everyday rides into armored battlewagons. The Ford in the USA is well-known for its police cars, the Explorer, which can be upgraded to a Police Interceptor. Ford also makes police versions of its F150. However, if you dig deeper you will find Blue Oval vehicles that are ready for anything, from armour-car duty to blasting through warzones.
These vehicles are not available at dealerships, and it is likely that the sales staff will not even know about them. These special vehicles, along with many other less militaristic variations, can be accessed through Ford’s Global Fleet Sales website. These specialty machines are built on the Ranger and the Ranger-based SUV the Ranger.
Here’s a look at some of the most impressive builds that you can get straight from Ford. We love the Ranger Armored Assault Vehicle. It’s available in single or four-door crewcab trucks. You get a large command station with jump seats and gun racks. A rear gunner compartment is also available. There’s enough armor to withstand small arms fire and withstand hand grenades blasts.
The Ranger Light Tactical Vehicle offers a lighter version of the Ranger Light Tactical Vehicle. It doesn’t have the armor and the traditional bed, but it does come with big bumpers and grille protectors, an upgraded suspension, emergency lights and a gun mount mounted on the rollbar. It packs the 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine under the hood, making 160 horsepower (118 kilowatts). You won’t have to rush out if things go wrong.
We need to mention a Ford security vehicle, which trades intimidation in favor of stealth. The Ford Transit van’s awkwardly named Everest Cash in Transit has nothing to do the Everest Cash In-Transit. The Everest is a regular-looking Everest, but it’s equipped with armor and a double-locking rear money box. There’s also a panic alarm for in the event of an emergency. It weighs more than 2.5 tons with all these mods, but still runs the same 160-hp diesel 2.2-liter engine. You’ll want to keep one hand on the panic key.
The Everest Light Utility Vehicle can produce 204 horsepower (150 kW), but it will not have stealth. You’ll instead roll big in a camouflaged SUV that has massive bumpers, mesh windows guards, a radio antenna large sufficient to talk to Mars and armor. A fuel cooler is available for jet fuel. It’s not clear what its practical purpose is but we would like it.
You might not be able to see pricing information for these vehicles. They are only available through Ford’s global fleet group. This means that they can only be sold to commercial and government buyers. Ford is a great option if you have the money and believe in imminent doom.
