We sent a message to Jeep to confirm that this is the top-selling production model. We will update you if we receive more information.

Since the Gladiator’s debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, there hasn’t been any new information about production. Through Jeep’s Gladiator configurator, we know that the Gladiator will come in four trim levels: Sport, Sport S and Overland. There will also be a Rubicon model, which is a top-of-the-line Rubicon. Jeep claims the Gladiator has the best-in-class towing capacity with a maximum weight of 7,650 pounds. However, this does not include the diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorado, which claims a slightly higher 7,700-pound rating.

Jeep claims the Gladiator’s payload capacity is best at 1,600 pounds. However, Ford can claim that title with its new Ranger which can haul 1,860 pounds in two wheel-drive trim. The Gladiator can only be purchased with four-wheel drive.

However, neither midsize truck can remove its top or fold down the windshield. Cool off-road features include an electronically operated swaybar disconnect system that allows for more suspension movement on rocky terrain. The Gladiator also has a Rock-Trac 4×4 system, which has a tight ratio of 4:1. The Gladiator is equipped with a 285-horsepower (212 kilowatts) V6 engine, and you have the option of either a 6-speed manual or an eight-speed auto. It should be very capable off-road.

Now the big question is when the Gladiator will go on sale. Jeep has not changed its promise to sell the Gladiator in the second quarter. With production models still available, pricing details and an earlier on-sale date can be expected very soon.
