GM Reports New V8 Displacing Well Above 8.0 Liters

The engine would be put into a truck that is heavy-duty for commercial buyers.

According to unnamed insiders speaking to GM Authority, there is no substitute for displacement. General Motor’s Class 7 commercial truck could have a huge V8 that can displacing more than eight liters. Multiple sources inform them that the new Silverado HD’s 6.6-liter V8 is the only gas-fueled powerplant in the automaker’s portfolio. According to GM, the massive mill would be built in partnership with Navistar – similar to the General’s current range medium-duty trucks. GM currently doesn’t sell a Class 7 truck. The company’s biggest pickup for commercial buyers at the moment is the Silverado6500HD. The Class 7 models are the threshold at which a person needs a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), in order to legally operate them in the United States.

Chevy’s 2019 model year saw enhanced versions of its 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD medium duty trucks (gallery below). These trucks now had the Camaro-inspired flytie emblem in their grilles. The front-end design has been modified to improve visibility. This is useful for allowing the driver to maneuver in tight spaces with the big rig more easily. From fifty-degree wheel cuts, the models have a smaller turning circle. You will find useful amenities such as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, and Bluetooth. The 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine V8 is standard on the 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD pickups. It produces 350 horsepower (261 Kilowatts) as well as 700 pound-feet (949 Newton meters) of torque. The rumored 8.0 liter mill gas-fueled mill will be even more powerful to haul heavier loads to the jobsite, with at least 1.4 additional liters.
