A 6.8-liter V10 provides all that puppy power.
The 125-foot-long Gnarly Krakin’ K9 Wave Maker, which is part of the Rose Parade in California, will be on the streets on January 2, 2017. Officially, it’s the longest and most heavy float ever made. It will be powered under the hood by a FordV10.
Guinness World Records has certified that the float is more than 137,000 lbs (62,142 kgs) and spans 125 feet (38 m). The float was designed by Lucy Pet Products and will feature eight dogs riding waves created by a mobile wave machine. The float will be topped by more than 5,000 gallons water. A Ford 6.8-liter V10 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission delivers power. This engine and transmission combination is the same as the F-650 or F-750 trucks. It produces 320 horsepower (238 Kilowatts) with 460 pound feet (623 Newton-meters). This means it can tow this parade-worthy float.
Joey Herrick, founder and president of Lucy Pet Products, says, “When we set out for breaking the longest and most heavy single-chassis paradefloat Guinness World Records title,” We are confident that JoJo Siwa (surfing dog), and all our special guests will enjoy a smooth ride thanks to the Built Ford Tough engine in the heart of our floating float. Fiesta Parade Floats built the float and used the 5,000-gallon water tanks as its centerpiece. The float will include eight surfing dogs (yes, real canines), a tiki house, tropical fish and even a lifeguard to make sure the waters are not too… rough.
