… at most in China.
We are patiently waiting for the Los Angeles Auto Show event to begin, but we must remember that there is another important event happening today that’s more than 7,000 miles away. Audi will unveil the A6L at the 16 th edition Guangzhou Auto Show. The A6L is a midsize sedan that was built in China. It will be the only one available. The People’s Republic will not sell the regular A6 Sedan in Europe or the U.S., just as we won’t get this car.
Audi didn’t change the design of A6L, as it is essentially the same as the regular version. The rear doors are slightly longer due to the increased wheelbase, which now measures 3024mm (119 inches) rather than the normal 2924mm (115.1 inch). The greater distance between the axles makes for more legroom for rear passengers. It also allows those who are not able to afford A8 flagships to have more space in the backseat.
The Audi A6L will initially be available in China with a turbocharged gasoline engine of 2.0-liter capacity that produces 190 horsepower and 224 hp. A hybrid version with the E-Tron suffix, likely to be available later in the model’s lifespan, will be added.
The A6’s longer length will make it harder to compete with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class Sedan. Both are made in China for the local market in LWB guises. Jaguar also sells a stretched XFL to rival the Germans. Not only sedans are getting long wheelbases, but also SUVs like the AudiQ5 L and the Mercedes LLC L.
