Is Toyota’s compact sedan a better choice than the previous model?
Although the Toyota Corolla may not be the first thing that comes to mind when people mention the car name, it is well-known all over the globe. It’s actually one of the most popular cars ever made, with 46 million sold since its debut in 1966. Toyota will unveil a new Corolla. It’s worth your attention, even if this compact Japanese car is not on your top-of-the-line list.
What makes the new car different from its predecessor? The new machine is completely new from the ground up and rides on Toyota’s New Global Architecture, which can be scaled to fit a variety of models up to the Valon. It is interesting that the new Corolla is smaller than its predecessor, even though it rides on the same wheelbase. The Corolla has been significantly redesigned. Let’s now see how the old and new models compare.
Front
The large lower grille of the Corolla is the most common feature between the new and older models. The sedan’s unusual proportions and shape have resulted in a more attractive design overall. When we get to the interior, we’ll be discussing cleaner.
Front Profile
The profile shot taken forward-facing reveals some familiarity between the new and old models. This is due to the high beltline which creates the slab-sided look that has defined the Corolla generations. Although the front profile shows more of the rounded lines on the hood, fenders and roof, there is still a very sleek look thanks to the large front fascia. This angle is easier to see.
Profile
This is where you can see the most similarities between the models, even though the Corolla rides on a new modular structure. Although there are minor adjustments to the doors and rear pillars, the overall body lines from the greenhouse to the trunk look very familiar.
Rear
The rear of the new sedan is where the most obvious changes are made, at least from the outside. It’s difficult to see any similarities between the models, aside from the Toyota badge. Even the isosceles trapezoid indent to the number plate is reversed.
Interior
The Corolla’s front clip has been redesigned to have a cleaner appearance. However, the interior of the new Corolla is completely redesigned. The new center stack features a simpler interface and a minimalist design. The Corolla’s controls have a new symmetry that is refreshing and makes it a much better place to spend a weekend on the road.
