Hips won’t tell you – this isn’t your normal 720S.
Although the McLaren 720S is the current supercar champion in drag racing, Novitec’s tuners were not able to extract more power for even greater performance. The Super Series car has been given an aero overhaul in the same vein of the extreme Senna.
Novitec’s latest upgrade package for the 720S Coupe looks a lot more obvious than the discrete kit that was launched a few months back. That one only had a handful of subtle changes over the standard car. The flashy redesign includes a wider body (+60mm/ 2.36in at the front, and +130mm/ 5.1in at the back), as well as a custom suspension that lowers the ride height by 35mm (1.38in).
A generous use of carbon fibre is visible on the rear wing and side mirror caps. This contrasts with the unusual paint scheme. The custom exhaust system provides the perfect soundtrack to match the McLaren’s extreme body. It’s loud and demands attention.
The twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine has been boosted to 795 horsepower and an incredible 878 Newton-meters (648-pound-feet). The 720S has 710 horsepower and 568 lb.ft (770 Nm). The car’s performance is impressive, with the sprint from 62 mph (100 km/h) taking only 2.7 seconds. This is two tenths of an second less than the stock car. Even more impressive is the fact Novitec shaved three tenths off the sprint to 62 mph (100 kph), which now takes just 7.7 seconds. It will run flat out at 215 mph (346 km/h), which is slightly faster than the regular model.
Novitec intends to keep the 720S-based N-Largo unique and will only convert 15 cars. It’s going be a rare sight.
