Let’s take a look back at 2010 to see which high-powered car wins.
CarWow placed the BMW M3 GTS, which is rare, against the powerful B7 RS4 Avant in order to keep its promise to compare BMW performance cars with their rivals or even against Audi RS cars.
The series began with the Mercedes-AMG E 63S facing the BMW M5 Competition on a drag strip. Mat Watson got an E30M3 from Mercedes-AMG and then put it against the RS2 – a matchup that will take you back to the ’90s. The next-generation E46 M3 versus RS4 B5 is the next step in both performance cars.
The results of previous races were varied, with the majority favoring the BMWs. However, the results were not absolute. Drag races are dependent on the car’s condition (and the tires) as well as the skill of the driver. Which do you think would be the first to cross the finish line between the E92M3 GTS or RS4B7 Avant? Let’s look at the numbers.
The E92 M3GTS is the rarer and lighter version of the fourth-generation M3s. It’s powered by a naturally-aspirated V8 that can produce a maximum power output of 444 horsepower. The engine sends power to the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox, but the main draw is the weight savings of 136 kg (300 lb) compared to standard M3s.
The Audi is almost a common ground, as the RS4 B7 also has a naturally-aspirated V8 rated at 420 hp. The Quattro all wheel-drive system is a big advantage. It’s heavier than M3 and has manual gearbox. The results will depend on the driver, or not.
