This week saw the debut of the first new Toyota Supra for nearly 20 years. We have been watching social media reactions to the new Supra and it has been quite interesting. It’s not a secret that Toyota created the new Supra in partnership with BMW, who also gave us the HTML4 Roadster back on August. The Supra’s bones come from Germany, and the interior is a striking resemblance to the BMW. Although the body is Toyota, this fan rendering by Kleber Silva at Behance.net shows us what many people already envision for the future BMW Z4 coupe.
Although the Bimmer’s facial expressions don’t seem out of place, it’s not unusual. Although both cars are based on the same platform, this rendering does not take into consideration the BMW’s very different side sculpting. It would be reasonable to expect BMW to have a different approach to the coupe’s roof and rear fascia, but we are not convinced that this was the artist’s goal. It’s time to address the elephant.
The new Supra received mixed reactions. Although there has been some criticism directed at Toyota for reducing the exterior from the previous concepts, the majority of the reactions we have heard are disappointed that the Supra exudes so much BMW essence. This is true for both the interior and the BMW-sourced running gear. However, the manual transmission is a disappointment. Performance is good, with 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. However, the Supra’s range-topping engine didn’t get the Z4’s full 382-horsepower (285 kilowatts) version of its boosted 3.0-liter six.
We have a fan rendering of a 2020 BMW Z4 coupe that is exquisitely detailed. However, some may argue that the hardtop Bimmer was already introduced earlier this week. We don’t care how you look at it. This rendering shows a nice looking car.
