AWD is now a standard feature.
Fiat has introduced the North American model of the facelifted 500X earlier this year. The 2019 500X will be available in the United States starting in spring 2019. However, the model will first make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The exterior remains almost unchanged, but the updated model features a few smart-looking enhancements. Front now has a new fascia featuring LED daytime running lights. Full-LED headlights are also available, which can replace the bi-xenon clusters in the 2018 model and provide 20 percent more lighting. The LED lamps also consume five times less energy per hour than traditional halogen bulbs.
You’ll find an updated instrument cluster, with better graphics, for the 3.5-inch TFT screen in the middle. It is flanked by two traditional analog dials. Fiat’s new generation infotainment system features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and an optional BeatsAudio premium audio system.
The 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is without doubt the most important tech innovation for small crossovers. FCA’s new unit, also available in Euro-spec 500X, produces 177 horsepower (132 Kilowatts) as well as 210 pound feet (285 Newton-meters). This motor is powered by the company’s third-generation MultiAir valve-actuation technology. This should improve combustion efficiency.
“Our Italian-designed and fun-to-drive 2019 Fiat 500X is standard with an all new, fuel-efficient, 1.3-liter turbocharged motor that generates the best-in-class torque,” Steve Beahm from FCA – North America commented. The new Fiat 500X features all-wheel drive capability that can be used in many climates and conditions.
The 2019 500X has an optimized 9-speed automatic gearbox that provides faster gear changes and more responsiveness. The car is equipped with an all-wheel drive system that disconnects the rear axle for increased fuel efficiency. The crossover is equipped with an independent MacPherson front suspension and an isolated rear cradle.
The new 500X’s U.S. price will be $25,785 plus destination when it goes on sale in a few months. Fiat will offer three new exterior colors and three new wheel options, two 17-inch wheels and one 18 inch. The 2019 500X will come in three models: Pop, Trekking, or Trekking Plus. The range-topper model starts at $30,490.
