Japan’s equivalent to $91,000 is the starting price.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette comes in a right-hand drive model and Japanese buyers are quickly snapping them up. According to Yahoo Japan, Chevy received more than 300 orders for its new ‘Vette in just 60 hours after it began taking reservations.
The C8 was introduced by Chevy to Japan in January at the Tokyo Auto Salon and orders were also taken there. The company’s dealers have begun accepting applications from interested buyers. The right-hand drive Corvette deliveries won’t start until spring 2021 so customers need to be patient.
“The age range varies between the 20s and the 70s. “The locality isn’t particularly Corvette-like and there are many urban areas such as Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka just like other Chevrolet cars,” a spokesperson for GM Japan told Yahoo Japan.
The Japanese C8 Corvette is right-hand driven, but it has the same engine as the American version. The 6.2-liter V8 produces 490 horsepower (365 Kilowatts) as well as 465 pound-feet (631 Newton meters) of torque. It is powered by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
American buyers will be pleased to know that the Corvette production is underway. According to current speculation, deliveries could begin in March.
