Ford Maverick ST Unofficial rendering Depicts a Sweet Street Truck

Ford is crazy if they don’t do this.

The new Ford Maverick street version is a cool, high-performance version. This truck has the potential to become a performance truck that can wiggle on the tarmac, thanks to its small size and all-wheel drive powertrain. It will happen. The question is whether Ford makes it or if the aftermarket takes over.

Ford would have missed a huge opportunity if they didn’t offer a hotter Maverick straight from the factory. We suspect that we’re not the only ones feeling this way. This rendering, which was shared by Ford Authority, shows how a new Maverick ST might appear. Given the Maverick’s conservative shape, it is worth going a bit lower with more black trim. Ford’s Nitrous Blue, a performance color, is great and special wheels with low-profile tires make it a must. Ford offers the Maverick already with a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine producing 250 horsepower (186kilowatts), but an ST would require a little more power. An EcoBoost engine with more power and a loud exhaust would give it the 300-hp (224 kW) level. This could be a fun car with an all-wheel drive system and a dual-clutch transmission. However, a twin-turbo V6 would make it spectacular. This upgrade would also be more in line to an RS or SVT model than a small ST makeover. Ford has a solution: Make them both.

We love the idea and feel great about a street-focused Maverick ST, but truck buyers still prefer off-road trims. The OG SVT F-150 Lightning’s sales were impressive, but they paled in comparison to the F-150 Raptor. We are confident that Ford will be very cautious about building a Maverick ST, but the Maverick truck isn’t typical. This truck is targeted at buyers who may not be interested in a full-size or mid-size truck. So maybe we will see a Maverick St on the streets one day.
