Have you heard of the Great Wall yet? The Great Wall of China is not the famous fortification system. It’s the name of the automaker. It is the nation’s largest SUV/pickup manufacturer and has just added a new product to its off-road lineup. The P Series truck is here.
According to the manufacturer, this will be the first ever truly global pickup. It should be sold in all markets where Great Wall has a presence. The new model should also compete directly with Toyota , Ford By 2020, 200,000 sales will be made annually by, and other mainstream pickup brands around the world.
The new platform for the P Series, the P71, is said to make it safer, more comfortable and more flexible than its predecessors. Great Wall claims that you can create more than 100 variants of the truck, with different body sizes and powertrain options.
The engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter and comes mated with an eight-speed manual gearbox and an intelligent all wheel-drive system. We don’t know much about the engine, but Great Wall is likely to sell it with an updated 2.0-liter turbodiesel. Great Wall is proud to announce that the P Series will be equipped with safety features like lane departure warning, 360-degree rearview camera, intelligent voice control, adaptive cruise controller, and lane departure warning.
