Hyundai Teases Sleek Sports Coupe in Advance Of July 15 Unveiling. [UPDATE]

Some teasers hint at an Ioniq5 N or Ioniq6 N.

Update: Hyundai released another teaser 24 hours after the one above. It shows what appears to be the rear of the new Ioniq 6, with a large wing visible through the tyre smoke. This would bring us to three vehicles that we have teased for Hyundai’s July 15 celebration of performance, also known as N Day.

N Day will be held by Hyundai on July 15th, where the brand will showcase its next-generation high performance car. The teaser image below shows a coupe-like vehicle.

Hyundai’s Facebook post to tease N Day gives one more hint at the upcoming model. The message reads: “Does this mean you want to have fun driving in an age of electric cars?” This could indicate that the vehicle is an electric vehicle (EV) or that the company refers to the blue vehicle in another image.

Teaser images show a vehicle with a very long nose and a narrow rear deck. The designers will continue to use the same styling formula for a performance car if this model is an EV that doesn’t require the space to accommodate a large engine. This might be a two-door, judging by the size and shape of the interior. The wing is almost as high as the roof at the back.

Hyundai’s current EVs are part of the Ioniq subbrand. This model could also be called Ioniq. This product could be the Ioniq7, an electric crossover.

The E-GMP platform is used by Hyundai and Kia’s EVs. These underpinnings are capable of supporting performance vehicles. The Kia E-GP6 GT is equipped with two electric motors that produce a total of 576 horsepower (430 Kilowatts), and 546 pound feet (740 Newton-meters). This allows the crossover to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.5 seconds.

Hyundai would be able to offer a fully-electric sports coupe, a market that isn’t crowded. Although there are other vehicles, such as the Lotus Evija supercar, this teaser shows a more traditional-looking two door.

Another teaser image is part of the announcement. It’s just a blurred image in Hyundai N’s signature shade of blue. According to spy shots, the Ioniq 5N is in deep development. This might be what Hyundai is hinting at with this image.
