2021 Land Rover Defender gets some updates and a shorter 90 model

The Defender six-passenger Defender is now more maneuverable.

Land Rover will make some key updates to the 2021 Defender even though the reborn offroader has been available for less than one year. The US will finally have the short-wheelbase Defender90 which will bring with it better maneuverability and a better breakover angle.

The 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 was initially intended to be launched alongside the 110. However, the coronavirus epidemic forced it to delay. It seems that the Defender First Edition will be available in 2021. However, Land Rover’s build your own tool lists it as the only trim available for 2020 Defender 90. Although deliveries have not started for that machine yet, it’s already September. We believe Land Rover will continue to carry the First Edition until 2021 for the Defender 90 as well as 110.

A Defender X Dynamic trim level will join the lineup. The X-Dynamic bridges the gap between the Defender base model and the fully loaded Defender X. It features Gloss Black wheel arches, rocker panels and “Silicon Satin” skid plates. It also has Robustec synthetic seat accents that reduce wear. The new trim, like the base model will include optional S, SE and HSE option packs that increase equipment levels.

The Defender 90 has a 32 degree breakover angle, which is 3 degrees higher than its larger sibling. The Defender 90 is 17.2 inches shorter than its larger sibling, the Defender 110. Its smaller dimensions mean that it is more suitable for serious off-roaders. The Defender 90 will come with five or six seats. This is possible thanks to a new front bench seat that transforms into a large fold-down console when it’s not in use.

The 90 is a good choice for adventurous, small families who don’t mind climbing up past the front seats. Defender 110 will continue to offer a front bench seat as well as two rear jump seats, though they are not combined. It can also be ordered with five, six or seven seats. This will make it the ideal choice for people who need to transport people and cargo, but don’t mind accepting a 29-degree breakover angle.

Dealers can place orders now for the 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 and 90. The base model 90 is $3800 less than the 2020 Defender 110 and starts at $46,100.
