Ford Performance Vehicles Announces New Falcon Range (AU).FPV has released some details about the exciting new Ford Performance Vehicle FG Falcon range, in preparation for its launch in June.

Without a performance brand, no Australian Ford Falcon range is complete. FPV has released some details about the exciting new Ford Performance Vehicle FG Falcon range ahead of its launch in June.
The FG Falcon range borrows heavily from Ford’s global styling direction “Kinetic”, and is a refreshing approach to Australia’s large sedan ethos. The FPV range builds upon this solid design platform. The new range will include the V8 GT series as well as the F6 Turbocharged 6-cylinder range. The GT is the V8 premium product. It is traditionally designed for the extroverts of FPV buyers. The F6 models will offer a subtler design package that is in line with their European-influenced performance.
FPV is not willing to provide specifications for the moment, which is a shame since FPV vehicles are all about numbers. The V8 will continue to be able to run at 5.4 litres, but it will undergo extensive rework to make the engine rev higher. These higher revs will produce more than 310kW (415HP) SAE. The 4.0L Turbo six was all about torque. It had a surplus of 550Nm. Although this engine can produce significantly more power, other components of the drivetrain could limit its potential. The engineers will be able to boost the engine to 300kW (402HP) SAE with a modified fuel system.
While the GT range will be the center of attention with its powerful V8 soundtrack, it would be foolish to place a bet that the F6 will outperform the GT in terms of performance. Traffic light races will always be won by the F6’s lighter weight, flatter torque curve and better acceleration.
HSV (Holden Special Vehicles), which exports to a variety of countries, including the USA, UK and Middle East, is the main competitor for the FPV. The new FG Falcon series means that non-Australians and New Zealanders can look forward to having these high performance FPV Ford’s in their country. The Aussies would be very selfish to keep FPV to themselves.
