Lancia was forced to create a new competitor for the motorsports competition by the introduction of the new FIA Group B rules in the 1980s. The original Lancia 037 is still the basis of the EVO37. The exterior design has only one change: the LED lights. The EVO37 is slightly longer than the original Lancia and the body is made of carbon fiber, instead of the fiberglass used in the 037.
