BMW is currently working to update its flagship SUV models. The X7 facelift will be available soon, and smaller X5/X6 families will receive updates shortly. The X5 M, X6 and regular X5 M were all tested out. Now it is time to see the X6 M in action. The performance coupe-SUV, just like its brother, is being tested on public roads using minimal camouflage.

The X6 M actually has less disguise than the X5 M in these spy photos. Both prototypes were captured in Germany with their front fascias only. It is possible that a pair of slimmer headlights will be hidden there. However, these are unlikely to follow the vehicle. Split headlight arrangement for the refreshed X7 . These two test vehicles do not have camouflage at their backs, as mentioned. This could indicate that there are only minimal changes to the rear end and it is not worth hiding them from the camera. These could also be early prototypes, and any changes to the rear end could happen as testing progresses. It is worth noting that the X6 prototype we saw earlier in the year had zero camo at its back.

We know that the cabin will see major changes to the X6 as well as the X6M. As well as some other changes to the center console, we expect a pair of new screens that run the iDrive 8 infotainment system. The current generation model’s tall gearshift will be replaced by a more delicate rocker control.

As there are no signs of any major changes, the X6M, along with the mechanically connected X5M, will continue to be used with the 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 from the current model. The Competition trim will deliver 617 horsepower (or 454 kilowatts) and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time of just 3.7 seconds.
