BMW, what are you doing?
YouTuber and Motorsport.tv partner “Remove Before Race”, was invited by BMW for a visit to the fictional “M Town” in a new film. Raziz Roken Ren was given the nickname “Mr. AMG” and allowed to taste all the delicious M&M’s.
He probably also took a look at the first-ever. M3 Touring is featured in the ad BMW added another Easter Egg to the mix. We are reminded that the Bavarians created a unique pickup truck, based on the E92M3, for April Fools Day 2011. It was used to transport a charging station, which just so happens to sport the “M Performance branding.”
In the “M Town” video, we only see a small section of the truck’s truck bed. However, Mr AMG was allowed to inspect the entire contraption. The passenger door decal likely indicates when the wraps will be removed from an electrified M vehicle. Although “2021” refers to next year, “26”, could be referring to week 26. In which case, we might see the mysterious vehicle debut anywhere between Monday, June 28, and Sunday, July 4, 2021.
BMW released images to accompany their press release on “M Town”, which show the E92 M3 ute without and with the side decal. You can guess which vehicle is being teased indirectly. The final piece of the puzzle is whether it’ll be a production vehicle or a concept.
There are rumors about a plug-in hybrid X8 M with at least 750 horsepower and a smaller X8 X45e M Performance model. However, this vehicle is not related to BMW’s flagship SUV. We are leaning towards an i4M version. A German luxury brand confirmed that there would be a faster i4 for 2021. This could well be the i4 M50.
It doesn’t matter what shape it takes, it is a fact that sooner or later we will have M branded PHEVs/EVs. According to a report, an electric HTML5 with Bugatti Veyron-matching capability is in the works
