The 22-inch alloys add an extra diesel punch to the mix.
The all-new Touareg has been a flagship vehicle for VW in Europe, but a forbidden fruit in America. Aftermarket specialists are already paying attention to it. ABT was one of the first to modify the midsize SUV. They started with a simple task: More power and larger wheels.
ABT engineers tweaked the 3.0-liter TDI engine to make it more powerful. The series 286 horsepower (210 kilowatts), was replaced by a beefier version that produces 330 hp (243 kW). When you consider that we are dealing with a diesel engine within a heavy SUV it is important to remember that torque is even more important. The Kempten-based tuner has increased the output from 600 Newton-meters (443 pounds-feet), to a staggering 650 Nm (448 lb-ft).
It’s not enough to quench your thirst, but VW will finally give its Touareg the V8 diesel motor it deserves. This engine features a twin-turbo setup that unleashes 421 horsepower (310 kW) as well as a massive 900 Nm (664lb-ft) of torque. Plug-in hybrids are also possible with 367 horsepower (270kW) and probably more than adequate torque.
ABT’s Touareg is back in your hands. They offer a variety of alloy wheels in sizes from 20 to 22 inches. The vehicle shown here is the largest, with the gloss black spokes. However, you can also have them in a matte black.
The integrated entrance lights that project the ABT logo onto asphalt when you open the door complete the transformations. These would be a waste.
