Is it fair?
Ford trucks had a great year in this year. The Ford trucks had a big year. Not only did the Ranger return, which was unfashionably late to this party, but they also revived the Tremor. The Fast Lane Truck compared the two trucks during a test in which the performance and size of each was compared. The results are not surprising.
The video starts by measuring the length and width of each vehicle. The 2020 Ford F-250 Tremor is taller than the Ford Ranger FX4. However, this size has both its pros and cons. It can be difficult for some people to reach the bottom of a Tremor’s bed due to its tall stature. However, the Ranger makes it easier. The Ranger stands 85 inches taller than the Tremor, whereas the Tremor stands at 82 inches.
After the tape measure has been removed, the back seats can be compared. It’s not good news for the Ranger. Although it does have a cramped back seat, the truck is still a medium-sized one. The Tremor pickup is heavy-duty and has plenty of room to move around.
With its 10.8 inch of ground clearance, the Tremor excels in off-road performance. This compares to the Ranger’s nine-inch 33-inch water fording limit and 35-inch offroad tires. The Tremor is more approachable than the Ranger but has a less favorable departure angle.
The turbocharged 2.3-liter four cylinder engine powers the Ranger. There are two options for the Tremor’s engine choice: a 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine, or a diesel 6.7-liter making 1,050 pound feet (1,423 Newton meters) of torque. The Tremor is the clear winner.
Although it is unlikely that Ranger customers would cross-shop with the Tremor, it was interesting to compare Ford’s smallest truck with one of its largest. Both in size and performance, the Tremor is clearly the winner. It will cost you extra.
