The video shows 8,500, but GM is evasive about 8,600.
We are close to obtaining complete information about the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. We’ve seen one of the cars’ exterior before their official debut on October 26. A teaser video now confirms that a Z06 convertible will be in the mix. This should give you the best chance to hear the engine revving to 8,500 rpm. Perhaps 8,600?
The flat-plane crankshaft V8 (which should be a 5.5 liter mill) will reach at least 8,500 revs. The teaser video above shows us the digital tachometer, which is capable of reaching 9,000 rpm. However, the red section appears to be starting at 8,500. Chevrolet’s teaser announcement made some doubts. It stated that the teaser would be released “about 8,600 mins before the full feature film worldwide,” which will also debut at the Z06 reveal. This is a strange way to refer time so don’t be surprised that the official redline is 8,600 rpm.
The teaser clip confirms that the Z06 convertible is in fact confirmed. Although the Stingray’s design is similar, shadows obscure any other differences between the Z06 convertible and the base ‘Vette. At this time, it’s not clear if the convertible will come with the Z06 performance packages. We do know that they will.
The feature film is Puttingthe World on Notice. It’s a 30-minute-long video that features interviews with engineers and designers. Emelia Hartford , a prominent C8 Corvette YouTuber, will also be featured. The video will be followed by a panel discussion featuring more Corvette enthusiasts.
All of this will take place on Tuesday, October 26, at 12:00 EST. The big Z06 reveal can be viewed right here at Motor1.com.
