Bad news: You won’t likely get an M4CS. You could always wait for M2 CS.
BMW’s new CS has yet to dry, but people are already asking a very important question: How many of these damn things will they be able to buy? You might recall that only 700 units were made of the HTML4 GTS. All of them were sold quickly. The M4 CS might see a little more.
CarBuzz states that BMW will limit the production of its M4CS to 3,000 units in two years. Although not as exclusive as the GTS though, it is still limited relative to standard production standards. According to reports, the new CS lends itself to the more powerful GTS because buyers who might not have been able to get the Bimmer’s attention were still begging for something better than the standard M4.
“We were shocked by the M4 GTS’s demand. Peter Quintus, BMW M’s Marketing Chief said that all 700 units sold out in four weeks. “We couldn’t make anymore of these units for various reasons, but there was a strong business case to have a more track-focused M4 that would slot in above and below the GTS. That’s how M4 CS was born.
The M4 CS is not the only hardcore model to be added to the M4 lineup. Quintus suggested that Quintus could use the CS moniker to refer to other M Performance vehicles, including the new M2. He stated that customers want a range of M models. Although he did not confirm that the M2 would receive the CS treatment, it appears likely.
The M4 CS will have a limited production, but it should still be worth the price. The engine’s 3.0-liter capacity has been increased to produce an additional 10 horses (7 kilowatts), which brings the total power to 460 horsepower (343 Kilowatts) as well as 442 pound-feet (642 Newton-meters) of torque. It can sprint up to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and then accelerate to a maximum electronically limited speed of 174 MPH (280 kmh).
BMW will ask EUR116,900 in Germany, and PS89130 in the U.K. to purchase the M4 CS. The car will be made available in mid-2018.
