Ford Integrated Tether System (FITS) is a system that allows owners to attach a variety of accessories inside their truck. This could be a great tool for many creative uses. Ford has gone one step further and allows owners to 3D-print their accessories for the pickup.

Ford FITS slot geometry will be made public for open-source consumption. This will allow owners to make and print accessories beyond the ones offered by Ford. The system has the potential to create an online community for creators, sharing their ideas and creating blueprints. Owners have some control over their vehicles and that is always a plus. Ford could easily have kept the FITS slot geometry secret and developed its own accessories.

The 2022 Ford Maverick will be available this fall. We don’t need to wait to see FITS in action. Already, reservations are being taken for the pickup which offers many features at a reasonable price. The pickup’s starting price of $19,995 includes destination. It also comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wired, Ford Co-Pilot 360 and two 12-volt power outlets. A hybrid powertrain offers an estimated 40 mpg city rating. This car is a winner.
