More rallying crazy men get into high-jinks about cars
We are used to seeing photos of rally cars flying – we all remember the iconic images of Quattross and Imprezas. But a modern Ford Fiesta takes the concept to new heights. Literally.
Video footage of the rally car descending a zip wire at Zip World in north Wales has been released as part of promotional material for Dayinsure Wales Rally GB.
Matt Edwards, British Rally Championship leader, fires up his Fiesta and takes off down the zipline in the 90 second video. The car speeds through beautiful Welsh mountains before reaching terra firma.
The film was shot at Slate Mountain. It will host two speed tests on Friday of the Wales Rally GB. Edwards can be seen skillfully drifting about piles of slate.
Elfyn Evans, a local hero who was the first Welshman ever to win a round in the World Rally Championship at the Wales Rally GB last year, also appears in the film.
“It sounded crazy when I heard it, and it was even more insane to witness.” He said, “I’m glad it wasn’t me in that car.”
Dayinsure Wales Rally GB managing director Ben Taylor described the process of creating the “crazy video”.
He stated, “To promote the thriving destinations for adventure sports in north Wales, which includes the World Championship rally,” he added. “But, together with Zip World’s title partners Dayinsure we got a little carried away …”
