2021 Lancia Ypsilon Spy Photos Reveal The Sad State of The Legendary Brand

How the powerful have fallen.

Lanciawas not a large, mass-market automaker. However, it did produce some very cool cars that touched the heart. Lancia is still available in 2021 but, as you probably know, it’s no longer the soul-stirrer that it once was. Unless your soul desires a small, round hatchback that produces a maximum of 84 horsepower.

The current-generation Ypsilon actually dates back to 10 years. These photos show that the formula isn’t really changing. This photo is courtesy of Walter Vayr, Facebook. A slight redesign to the lower fascia has been done. The Ypsilon’s grille will be sharper than the current model. This could be a clever trick using black tape. However, the headlights appear to have a sharper angle. Fans of the brand will recognize the small hatchback, but it is not as distinctive as the rest of Ypsilon soldiers.

This Lancia’s bones are the Fiat 500. We have not heard anything about any changes to the front wheel-drive powertrain. A mild hybrid engine with a 1.0-liter motor produces a thrilling 69 horsepower, while a larger 1.2 liter gasoline engine offers the same power. The 900cc turbocharged, two-cylinder engine is for performance enthusiasts. However, at 84 horsepower, it’s not exactly a fire-breather. These mills are also rooted at Fiat, if you’re familiar with them.

Rumours are circulating about Lancia’s impending demise. The future of the automaker is uncertain considering it only has one model. Despite its age, the Ypsilon will be receiving a minor refresh. This suggests that there is little interest by the authorities in restoring Lancia to its rally-tastic glory. We expect to see the modified Ypsilon by January’s end.
